On my way to blockbuster today there were two goats in the road, one was a little goat, um I played that game at a baby shower but I don't know what baby goats are called. Maybe it was a sign. So I guess we are getting a goat for Christmas, but this way I don't have to take care of it.Saturday, October 27, 2007
Ryan wants a goat
He's mentioned getting one before but I don't think I'm ready for a goat. Then we got a magazine thing in the mail from Heifer International about buying animals for children and communities in impoverished countries. A Goat is only 120.00 bucks. You can even buy chicks for 20 bucks. Know a single guy, buy him some chicks for Christmas.

Help!
I can't clean. I've known this for a very long time, just ask my mom. My room growing up was never clean and Rainey had to threaten or bribe me to help her clean. Ryan even gets excited about cleaning products and I'd just as soon pass that isle without a glance. I've decided that cleaning is a skill and I just don't have it. So I thought, maybe there is a class somewhere out there that can teach me to clean. Does anybody know of anything? I'll even go to a homemaking meeting to learn. Help me out here, it's the only thing holding me back from being perfect in every possible way.

Rawhide Kid
The first outed comic book character. He's a classic from the 50's western comics. In 2003 he was outed. Hmm... isn't that about the same time Brokeback came out (no pun intended). Ryan thinks his rival should be The Soreass Bandit (disclaimer, I repeat that was not me) What's next a character from Harry Potter is going to come out, oh wait...
Let's Party
My cute Fiesta Ware collection. This was what I was thinking about with the question about 'my favorite dishes'. I love fiesta ware. I love all the colors but my collection consists mostly of orange, turquoise and white. Right now I'm lusting after the orange butter dish. I was lucky to get a lot of pieces for my wedding. My amazing friend Jacqui and her mother-in-law bought me way too much, thank you! My mom's friends and the lady I was named after got me some fun unique pieces too. This shelf just makes me happy!

Blogging Buddies!
I met my second blogging buddy tonight! Jen is way cool, although I don't think she should count as just a Blogging friend since our husbands are friends from high school, but we've been commenting / communicating for the last few months and felt like we had become friends already (oh I hope she feels the same). She has a new born named Karl (his name is really Kody but me and ryan really wanted them to name him Karl) that I just had to see. He's so small I've already forgotten Ike was that small. It was really fun hanging out with them and getting a new 'real' friend. Hope I dream about you tonight, wink wink.
This was the first friend I met from the blogging world. Hannah felt sorry for me after I complained about not having any friends so we set up a play (pitty) date at the park and had a lot of fun. I'm glad it worked cause she is really cool and fun to talk to. She has two little girls who are really cute. She lives in PG too so hopefully we will be able to hang out more often (fingers crossed). It's kind of funny going from meeting guys online to date to finding girlfriends online. Thankfully they remember their camera's I had to steal both pictures from there blogs. If I could figure out how to post a link I would but I'm not a master blogger yet.
Are you kidding me
This was last night. October 20th we got our first snowfall of the year. Nooo, I'm not ready.
So I woke up to this. Snow on the ground and a lot of it. It will probably be gone by this afternoon.I remember my first year at the BYU it had snowed a lot before thanksgiving and I went home for thanksgiving thinking that I wouldn't see the ground in Utah again till spring. I didn't realize there were warm days and cold days. I'm still a little new to seasons, but I'm starting to like them. Fall and Spring that is.

Vegas (excuse to eat In-N-Out)
The real reason we went to Vegas was to eat at IN-N-OUT.
The reason we got to go to Vegas however was to see the BYU vs. UNLV football game. It was a pretty good game, I even got into it. BYU won 24 to 14. Of coarse the spread in Vegas was 11 points but UNLV made a 2 point conversion in the last minute of the game.
I decided cheer leading is pretty cool. Not so much the male cheerleaders. Look at the gut on the one closest to me, and I'm pretty sure the one in the middle was wearing makeup, but I could be wrong. They had a little tail gate party before the game with some not so great food and even worse entertainment.
On the bus over there we traveled with the rest of the 'auto group' that got to go on the trip. Ryan kept making commentary (making fun of) on the two brothers and/or twins riding in front of us with the Donald Trump hair doe's. They had pretty wives while they resembled one Montgomery Burns, although not quite that old, they were deemed the Burns twins the rest of the trip for us. I think they own some Saturn or Lexus dealership so they aren't sweating it.
All in all it was a fun trip, Ike was really easy to travel with and we had a good time even though we skipped Celine Deon sadly.Tuesday, October 16, 2007
Power Rangers in TJ
My girls and me back in the day on a trip down to Tijuana we saw these cute little boys in power ranger masks so we had to buy them. I don't think I ever used it as a Halloween costume but I do remember donning them on occasion around Provo just for fun. Those were the days. I always miss my college days around this time of year.Thursday, October 11, 2007
Trying to figure out
How this movie got into my queue on blockbuster. I was just sent the movie Blood and Chocolate, here is the synopsis:Iron Jawed Angels director Katja von Garnier and the producers of Underworld team to adapt author Annette Curtis Klause's tale of a teenage werewolf who is forced to choose between love and loyalty to the pack when she falls for a handsome young human. Vivian Gandillon (Agnes Bruckner) is a 19-year-old girl living in modern-day Bucharest. After spending her entire life running from the truth, Vivian is forced to come to terms with her lycanthropic origins when her growing affections for a visiting American artist threaten to reveal her family's dark secret. For centuries, Vivian's family has been involved with an ancient secret society. Now, in order to be with the one she loves, Vivian will be forced to betray an age-old vow that could bring about the downfall of her entire race.
Hmm. Was it the teenage werewolf who falls in love with a teen in Bucharest that caught my eye. I'm telling myself that I meant to select Blood and Diamonds. I'll let you all know how good it is, maybe it's a little sleeper hit.
it proly need work'n on
My biggest fear when I started my job with a construction company 3 1/2 years ago was that my grammar would be shot and that I would get the 'southern utah' accent. Well I think I maintained pretty good. I usually don't ignore the G in words that end in ING. But I've noticed the word that I've abused the most is Probably, it's become probly and when I'm saying it even proly, which is so bad. I'm really going to start working on that.
Also I fear my vocabulary has been hurt'n. It's hard when you use big words and everyone around you looks at you like 'what did you just call me'. Not that the people I work with aren't intelligent, but I was asked recently how to spell 'sat'.

I love Gas!
I'm talking about the kind you get at the dentist. It doesn't make up for the amount of pain I'm in at the moment, but man. So I hadn't gone to the dentist for a while which is why I'm pretty much in there every week now. I had never gotten gas before, the dentists recommendation was 'gas is nice', truer words never spoken. It kind of gives you that pleasure and pain thing. It made me much more lucid than I am now. I was taking my mind off what was going on by thinking of things to blog about it, I'm such a dork. I do however have to recommend listening to the Killers while getting 'work' done, the lyrics are surprisingly fitting to the situation, plus it's just a good album. Question now, am I going to be looking forward to or fearing my next appointment? Um, I don't think I'm ever going to like going to the dentist, it just takes the edge off. Thank you happy gas!

Grandpa's Girls
My Grandpa was the coolest guy ever. He had an old photo album with pictures of him and his family. I loved looking through it. On the back two pages there were these pictures. I said, 'Grandpa who are those girls, were they your girlfriends.' an embarrassed look came over his face and he closed the book and said 'oh no they were just some girls I knew'. What a stud. I'm sure he didn't know them but I think it's so cool he had these pictures. I miss my grandpa.

Celine Dion or Bust
So Ryan got called into the sales managers office last week and was offered a trip to Vegas with the BYU football team. Sweet huh. Well the trip included tickets to the Celine Dion concert. Do we have to. Ryan remembering that his managers wife actually likes Celine told the sales manager to offer the trip to him instead. Well it ends up he can't go so we are back in. I understand how guys feel about the ballet and opera, I honestly don't think I could sit through it. I've been asked the question before, 'who would be worth getting a dent in your Escalde for.' my answer was always Ms. Dion. Ryan was told we didn't actually have to go to the show if we didn't want to. Now if only we could get our hands on those tickets we could make a pretty penny and really have a fun weekend. I'm looking forward to the trip and the game, not so much the chest beating Canadian, oh sorry french Canadian, even worse.

Mi Hermana's
This was from our sisters weekend in 2003. Sadly I think it was the last time we were all together. I'm the baby of the family and then my brother is the oldest but he didn't get to come to sister's weekend. I don't get to see them as much as I'd like but I love them all.
Boobs!
I don't know why I never appreciated my boobs more pre baby. Now they are the bain of my existence. From the first time feeding Ike they have hurt. I thought feeding a baby would be so sweet and tender, well for the most part that's not true. It pretty much hurts like hell. Then I've been dealing with breast infections which make you feel like you have the flu without the frequent trips to the bathroom. I hate to complain about something that is an essential part of motherhood, but I'm trying to function at work today and not being very successful.

It's October already
I can't believe it's October already. The leaves changing the weather changing. I broke out the decorations today. I've gotten a few more each year. Being single living in apartments or with family for the last 10 years I didn't acquire any decorations. I feel so domestic now. This is from last Halloween. Ryan thought he looked better than me in the pic so I assume it's ok to post it. I don't know what we are going to dress up like this year, it always seems to be a last minute thing. So keep posted.

Underdog!
I discovered that when you put a bib on your dog it makes him look like a super hero. Oskar does not like having clothes on which works to our benefit because he's kind of a spaz when people come over and when he's wearing his shirt he's much mellower.
You can just see the embarrassment on his face. So sad.Friday, September 28, 2007
I get to Decorate!
This is my favorite thing I've made Ryan buy for me, next to my circle chair. When I got it I got to pull out all my little odds and ends and arrange and rearange them on the shelf until I got the right balance. I think I did pretty good if I do say so myself. I mean look how proud Osky looks. Target finally had the matching pieces on sale so we bought the entertainment center with two more small bookshelfs and to sofa end tables, we can't find the coffee table sadly. I now have 8 whole shelves to docorate and I'm excited. I bought the 2.50 buhda and shiva they are selling at target but that's all i've got so far. I'm thinking of doing one shelf for me and one for Ryan, but still matching. Wish me luck, I'll post them when I'm done. Two of Ryan's friends just bought houses in Salt Lake and I think we've convinced atleast one of them to let me decorate. I'm excited! He really needs to paint but otherwise it's a super cute house. Thank goodness for Ikea coming to town because then I can do it for as cheap or as nice as he wants. If anyone has seen any cute modern inexpensive stuff let me know. My staple haunts are Target, Ikea, Tai Pan, and TJ Maxx but I'm willing to expand.

I feel like I don't have any friends
This isn't meant to be a woe is me or a guilt trip for my friends. But lately I feel like I don't really have many friends anymore. I have Sarah, Amy and Kellee Kellee who I love dearly and I would do anything for and they would do anything for me, but I don't get to see them as much as I would like to (let's do the pub soon!). I have my sister Rainey but she lives in Cali. I have my new gal pal at work Tiffany who I have fun shooting the shiz with at work (I'm going to get made fun of for saying shiz aren't I). And I have Ryan's family who I love and at least get to see every Sunday. Man now I feel guilty about complaining. But lately I feel like I'm out of sync with the friend thing, now that I'm a mom and living in Utah County it's weird I feel like I should be friends with woman who have kids. I've started stalking a few bloggers, and I'm almost tempted to start going to church again just to meet some people. The problem there is that I'm worried these women will be 5 years younger than me with 4 more kids than me. Plus I'm worried I'm too cynical and warped to hang out with woman who are too 'righteous', and be myself.
I remember going through this same thing when I graduated college and I moved back to California and all my roommates/close friends who I had just spent 5 years with moved all over the country. I didn't think I had the energy to make new friends and didn't think I would find ones as special to me as them. But then I moved to Salt Lake and met Merry Jane and Kellee and Sarah and life was good again. So I have hope, plus I get to live with my best friend and he makes me happier than anyone.
Really though lately I've also just had this feeling of elation. I've just felt really happy and fulfilled lately. So nobody feel bad for me, I just wanted to get it off my chest so maybe I could quit worrying about it.

Why Tivo would be good for our marriage.
I'm rarely a bitch. I've often thought that I'm too nice, sometimes to a fault. But ask for aspirin or sit in front of me and change the channel when a season premier is starting and watch out. I feel bad every time I'm rude to my sweety. Now if we had Tivo I wouldn't have gotten upset at him because Tivo would be doing it's magic and no showtime would be lost.He complains that I watch too much TV. That may be true. But If we had Tivo I wouldn't be worried that I was missing something. I could pre-program it to record the shows I liked, then I could read or clean when those shows are on and be able to come back and watch them when I'm feeding Ike or cross stitching, oh wait I don't cross stitch.
Tivo would also help me more comply with Ryan's Socialist leanings as apposed to my Capitalist ideals by being able to fast forward through the commercials there by avoiding the mass consumerism shoved down the throats of most Americans.
Granted it's a luxury that we don't really need and Marx wouldn't approve of (see Ike's blog). But I think the argument can be made and hopefully has been that it would be beneficial for maintaining a strong marriage. It's either that or taking me to the Opera and Museums. Not a tough decision.
Today's Search Topic
Jonathan Safran Foer He's one of my favorite authors and sadly he's only written two books. He gets most acclaim for Everything is illuminated which was made into a movie staring Frodo. One of the reasons I love this book is because it's the book I read when me and Ryan went to a bed and breakfast in Manti for his birthday. I was trying to make the weekend a surprise but when the 'Inn keeper' told me there wasn't a TV I figured it was necessary to make a trip to Barnes and Noble before we headed out. But I digress.
His second book is really my favorite. Extremely loud and Incredibly close. It's about this smart, silly boy named Oskar (I wanted to name Ike Oskar but our dog is already named that) who finds a key that belong to his dad who died in 9/11, he then goes on a search through New York for clues. Like Everything is Illuminated there are several different narratives going on at the same time. I'd like to think I've gotten the word out to most of my friends about this book, but if you haven't read it you should. Sadly I haven't been reading much lately but I need to get back in the habit. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Blockbuster Insight
I went to blockbuster to rent the second disc of Grey's season one. The gregarious (I define as fat and happy) check out girl decided to share some of her wisdom with me. Check out girl: Do you like this show
Me: I just started watching it but so far.
COG: You know this actress Ellen Pompeo had a big controversy with the press thinking she was anorexic because she lost like 20 pounds between the first and second season.
Me: Oh yeah. (I haven't been living in a cave the last 5 years)
COG: I hate that these actress's are super skinny now a days
Me: nod, (start to leave)
COG: Back in the day the people who were heavier were the ones that were considered rich.
Me: That's true (as I hurried and grabbed my video's and went out the door)
Back in the day? does she mean the the 1600's, are we talking during the plague or the depression, I'm not sure, but keep living the dream lady.

Ebay Virgin
I listed my first Item on Ebay. I'm worried I may get addicted to it but that might be a good thing, I have a lot of 'junk' I'm sure Ryan would be happy to see me part with. We finally bought some pieces from Target that match the bookshelf Ryan bought me for my birthday, so we need to get rid of this cool piece. I really like it but it's too big and heavy and our house is too small. I should have put it on my blog first to see if anyone wanted it, but if anyone is interested and it doesn't sell let me know, I don't want to have to throw it away.
