2 of Ryan's favorite pics of me

Sept. 1983
Ryan was going through some of my old pictures a few weeks ago and came upstairs and asked me if he could have these two. I asked him why and he said he wanted to frame them and take them to work. So I thought if he got such a kick out of them I'd share the joy.

(enscription on the back:"To lovely Miss Marjorie S. Escort Greg Bursett. Thank you for being a lovely lady in our Catillion for 1987-1988")
I was in 6th grade in this picture which is my only excuse for my afro and puffy sleaves. But my date Greg Bursett looks pretty daper in his baby blue suit, he was ahead of his time.

Ike Likes it

I promise my blog is not just becoming a restaurant review blog but I had a request for a review of Les Madeleines.
I talked my friend Jemma into joining me there for lunch last week. I have to say I was a little disappointed. I hate giving something a bad review but I had such high hopes for this place it let me down a little. It all tasted really good, my complaint is really that everything was miniaturized. Maybe that's how they do it in France but for the prices I expected a little bit more. I got the half sandwich half salad and the sandwich measured about 2inch x 1.5inch. They featured there Kouing Aman pastries on the Food network and I was anxious to try them but they were tiny and priced at $5 I just couldn't justify it. I did however get a carrot cookie sandwich which was to die for. Jemma ordered some Mac n Cheese for her boy that was actually my favorite thing there, plus Ike ate a ton of it, thanks Liam.
So basically my only complaint is price vs. size of portion. If there food was 'actual size' I would recommend it. But if you are in Utah county I'd say Flour Girls and Dough Boys is just as yummy and you get your moneys worth.

I'm in Love

With Pizzeria 712, and my husband.
Ryan's brother Matt and his cute girlfriend Maggie offered to babysit for us so we could go out to dinner, how nice is that. I'd been wanting to check out Pizzeria 712 since I saw it on Your Heart Out. I talked Ryan into taking me there for dinner and I'm glad I did. So yummy! In fact the pizza was so good we were both craving it for lunch today so I went back and got two more pizza's to go. They make them in a brick oven and use fresh mozzarella and fresh tomato sauce. It's really like no other pizza around, so go try it.
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day!

Drum Roll Please

I got an ultra sound yesterday. I'm only 17 weeks but they wanted to check the length of my cervix so I got to get an early one. I was hoping they would be able to see the baby.
Look at that cute little hand, I'm pretty sure there was 5 fingers although it doesn't look like it. I asked if I could find out the sex of the baby and...

It's a Boy!
and boy howdy is it a boy. I actually called it before the tech did. She said that she usually doesn't say definitively either way but that she was pretty darn certain this one was a boy.
I'm really excited. I actually wanted another boy. I thought having a girl would be fun, but another boy will be easier and funner for Ike I think, and Ryan. I think Ryan is excited too, he kept telling Ike last night that he was having a baby brother. It's kind of hard to tell from the profile pic but I thought this little guy looks a lot like Ike did. I definitely makes it more real getting to see the baby moving inside of me. I'm getting really excited now.

Just 1 baby please

I had a dream last night that I had Triplets! Ahh, no thanks. In my dream I gave birth to them at a bakery, I must have been hungry last night. Or maybe because I saw a show on the food network about Les Madelines bakery in Salt Lake that I need to go check out. I was a bit stressed at having 3 babies but decided I should give one away to a friend who has been trying to have a baby but couldn't. I don't know if that proves I'm a giving person or that I'm too lazy to deal with 3 babies. Because 2 I could handle but 3, I don't think I'd ever sleep.
I have an appointment today so I'll have to get the doctor to double check that there is only one heartbeat in there. I may have an ultra sound today but I don't think they will be able to tell what I'm having, but I can't wait to find out. Don't worry I'll let you all know when I do.
**Appointment went good, there was only one heartbeat and I didn't get an ultrasound.

Happy Groundhogs day!

He saw his shadow, so Phil says we have 6 more weeks of winter. Although apparently he is right only 37% of the time so really there is a better chance that spring will be early this year. What an odd little tradition this country came up with. I like Anne's family tradition the best. They get presents for groundhogs day which ends up being something that her mom had bought the family for Christmas and forgot about or else something her mom had been wanting to get, like a dining room set, and uses groundhogs day as a good excuse to get it. Hope you get something nice for groundhogs day Anne!
Next to Arbor day this is one of my favorite holidays, so I hope everyone has a...

ADELE is CUTE

Thank you Jemma for sending me the pics, I like this one better but I'll leave them both up.
(Jemma needs to email me the pics she took cause I look much cuter in them)I got to go to the ADELE concert with my good friend Jemma on Friday. It was a lot of fun just getting out of the house but it was a great concert as well. The Murray Theater was packed and you can see by the pic below that it took all kinds of folks there. Gramps only made it through the opening act, which kind of went on too long if you ask me.
ADELE opened with my favorite of hers 'Cold Shoulder'. I took a little video of it but it's probably more entertaining just to watch the actual video. She was so cute performing, she's got the cutest personality and she kept giving the audience coy little waves. Her voice was amazing live, she's got a lot of talent for a 20 year old. It was an awesome show but I think Jemma and I both decided we are more of the sit and relax and watch a concert type now, man I'm getting old. But I guess if Gramps is still coming out I can suck it up and stand for a few hours too.

P.S. She said she's coming again in May!

Great Day!

in the words of N'SYNC... BYE BYE BYE
This has got to be the best picture from the day. Bye bye Bush.
It's been a great day watching the inauguration. Obama's speech was amazing. I had to wonder what Bush was thinking listening to it.
I just talked to Ryan and he brought me down a little from my optimistic high. It's too bad that there are still ignorant people in this country and especially this state. Ryan's been hearing a lot of comments at work today. When are people going to understand that the color of ones skin does not determine their worth. I won't let that get me down though.
Also thanks for every ones concern, I'm feeling better the last couple of days. I feel like I've been complaining a lot but I think that's just cause my complaints are public.
Tonight I get to go to Book Club. It's the highlight of my month and we are talking about one of my all time favorite books. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foers. I can't wait to hear what the girls have to say about it. I also can't wait to see what all the girls have made, last time I wasn't feeling so good and didn't eat much. I'll make up for it this time.

How Come

Yesterday I read something that said I still have like a week and a half left of my 1st trimester and today I'm feeling sick again. I even asked my doctor at my last appointment and he said I was in my 2nd, although I don't think he was really paying attention. So when does the second start? I guess I could look it up myself but then I wouldn't get comments!

Better Know a District

A local celebrity, I mean politician was on The Colbert Report. Jason Chaffetz the new republican congressman from Utah county. Just in case you missed it, it was pretty funny. I don't think anyone has challenged Colbert to a leg wrestling match before. Good stuff.

Baby Update

I had my next check up. I got to hear the heart beat, which the doctor said sounded really good. I got my due date which is July 21st. And best of all, I'm in my 2nd Trimester! Yeah I'm so happy, till the 3rd comes. I'm feeling much better now, which may be why I'm starting to get really excited about this baby. I think it would be exciting to have a girl, but I kind of just want a boy. I've kind of got the hang of a boy and I wouldn't have to buy a whole new wardrobe, although if I had a girl, I'd get to buy a whole new wardrobe. I don't get to find out for about 8 weeks or so, that's the next thing I'll be looking forward to.

Jane Austen Alert!

Next Sunday on Ovation TV (274 on Direct TV) There is a new show on for all you Jane Austen lovers. I'm not one of them but I know a lot of you out there. It's called Lost in Austen and according to EW it's the perfect mix of Sci-fi and Chic-flick.
Bored bank worker Amanda Price literally becomes lost in her favorite book, Pride & Prejudice, after she finds a strange portal in her bathroom and swaps places with its heroine Elizabeth Bennet.
I'm guessing Collin Firth isn't going to be Mr. Darcy, (isn't that the guy in P&P) but I'm sure you ladies (and Tyler) will enjoy it anyways.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve!
I hope how your New Years eve goes isn't indicative of the rest of the year. I was a grouch last night or so Ryan told me several times. I put Ike to bed late but he still didn't fall asleep till 11pm and by the time I came out Ryan had taken Jace home, who we were babysitting. So I decided to go to bed about 11:30. Then Ryan came home a little after midnight and gave me my new years kiss. He wanted me to check out this crazy stunt Robbie Madison did in Vegas. It makes Robbie Knievel's jump look like a joke.

Keep watching after he gets to the top, because he comes back down. If you think that was cool, check out what he did last year. So after I watched last years jump on YouTube for some reason I felt like puking, I don't know why, I only had half a glass of sparkling apple cider.
I think this year is going to be a good year. We have a new arrival coming and Ike just keeps getting cuter everyday, and Ryan loves me even when I'm a grouch, what more could I ask for.
I hope everyone has a great new year!

Christmas Recap

We had a fun Christmas Eve dinner at Jason and Brittany's. She always has poppers which I think is the coolest thing. We asked the boys which was their ring finger and they were happy to show us, jk. Ryan completely spoiled me this Christmas. When we got home from dinner Christmas Eve he cleaned the house and finished wrapping presents and arranged them all pretty under the tree. He even left a funny surprise for Santa. All while I was being a party pooper and went to bed early. Then for Christmas he gave me too much stuff. He said I deserve it but I don't know why. I'm most excited about my new iPod that has more than 1G of memory on it! Plus he got me the knife I wanted along with some other goodies, how sweet is he.
Ike got some cute Christmas jammies with little doggies on them which for some reason now he calls 'foofa'. We got him some clothes and cars plus he got some fun stuff from Ryan's family so he wasn't hurting. Emily made me the prettiest rug and got me a pretty trifle bowl. She also gets the award for getting me the oddest present. Aromatherapy socks. That's right socks that smell pretty, I'm still a little confused but I'm still wearing them, they are super soft and every once it a while I catch a wif of them, but seriously I can't get my feet anywhere close to my nose.
After opening presents at home and after Ryan shoveled the driveway we went over to his parents. I made my sister Sharon's yummy buttermilk pancakes and syrup to rave revues. At one point I had a line forming for seconds, I may have started a new Christmas breakfast tradition. We spent the whole day just hanging out and playing with all of Jace's toys he got. I put Ike's new 18 month outfit on him, it still kind of drowns him (he turned 18 months on Dec. 7th) but it makes him look like a big boy. We stayed for a yummy Christmas dinner then made it home before another storm started. It was a really good Christmas, I'm kind of sad it's over. I hope everyone had a good Christmas too and got spoiled like me.

Christmas is coming

I can't believe it's here already, how did that happen. It's been a rough month for me but it can only get better. I'm excited for tomorrow. Tonight we are going to Jason and Brittany's for a family dinner then tomorrow morning after opening our presents we'll be going over to Ryan's parents to open presents with all of them. I think I'm going to make my sister Sharon's yummy buttermilk pancakes and syrup for breakfast. It's going to be a pretty simple Christmas this year, not too much stuff or craziness, but I think that's how I like it best.
I hope all my friends and family have a Very Merry Christmas!

First appointment

I had my first doctors appointment yesterday. I'm 9 weeks pregnant right now. So far everything seems like it's going well. I'll get to hear the heartbeat at my next appointment in 3 weeks. My doctor said it didn't feel like I was having twins so knock on wood. While sitting in the waiting room I kept seeing all these women about ready to pop and I realized, I don't want to be pregnant. Then in the appointment I peed in a cup, got my blood drawn, had my doctor do things to me I normally don't let a man I just met do to me and all the joys of pregnancy came back to me. What am I doing putting myself through all this again. Oh wait, I guess it's so I can have another kid as cute as Ike. I know, I'm excited, I'm just looking forward to my 2nd trimester, I could do without the first and third.

I pee'd on a stick...

and it told me I'm...
There's got to be a more glamorous way to find out you're pregnant. Well that's what I think anyways, that's why I BEDAZZLED my pregnancy test, just to make it a little more special.
I'm only about 8 weeks pregnant so my due date is around July 21st or so. I'll keep you all updated I'm sure. I've been a bit sicker with this one so my early prediction is that it's a girl, we'll see. Sorry for anyone who didn't get a personal phone call, I've been nauseous plus I got a cold this week too so I haven't been in a chatty mood, but I'm very excited and so is Ryan and Ike.

December 1st I'm allowed to decorate

I finally got my tree up this year. Ryan has a rule about not decorating till the 1st of December where as I would probably do it the weekend of Thanksgiving. But it all works out because I got to help my mother-in-law decorate over the weekend instead. Although after putting lights on her tree I wasn't quiet as into putting them on my own. Luckily I only use 4 strands and she uses about 10.
I can't help myself I have to change up my tree a little every year. The last two years I had birds on my tree with nests and feathers and all that. But I have to admit I'm just about over the whole bird thing. However I did end up throwing about 10 little ones on there. I decided this year to go with Red, Turquoise and White. I got some beautiful ornaments from Restoration Hardware last year when they went 75% off. There are some white snowflake ornaments I saw at the dollar store I still want to pick up too, then I think I'll be done.
Luckily Tai Pans ornaments are plastic because I have a little stinker this year that can reach magically about half way up the tree. And since he loves balls, he's all over the ornaments. So far he hasn't gotten any off the tree yet, knock on wood.

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm thankful for Ryan, even though he doesn't change poopy diapers.
I'm thankful for Ike even though he woke me up 3 times last night then decided to wake up at 6:30 this morning and not go back to sleep.
I'm thankful for my cute house even though Ryan showed me this house last night that I want so bad now.
I'm thankful for my family even though they are all so far away I don't get to see them very often.
I'm thankful for Ryan's family even though they are crazy, jk I couldn't think of anything negative.
I'm thankful for my friends even though I don't get to see them as much as I want to.
I'm thankful for Kat for letting me steal all her cool pictures she finds.
So as you can see I don't have any legitimate complaints. I'm very thankful for my life and my little family, I'm a very lucky girl.
I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Coolest Brother-in-law ever

My brother-in-law Matt is an amazing musician. He's been doing a lot of local shows lately and getting some great press. If you want to read about his inspiration and Iron Maiden obsession go here. If you want to here a sample of his music go here. And if you want to see video of him playing live go here.

This is one of my favorite songs by him. If you listen carefully you may realize that it's based on the movie Back to the Future 3. How he gets an amazing song out of that movie is crazy but he does it. Check him out and become a groupie like me.
***Jason I think you are a super cool Bro-in-law too!

No Good Excuse

Coastline of Greenland at Geography of Greenland, by NASA
My laptop's internet went out. So now if I want to get on the internet I have to go downstairs and use our other computer. It's made it so my day isn't computercentric anymore. I guess that's good and bad. Bad for all my dedicated followers because I haven't been blogging as much lately, or twittering or commenting or keeping tabs on all my friends.
Besides that I haven't been doing anything that exciting. Monday I cleaned the house, Tuesday night I went to a fun bookclub, Wednesday I went to see the animals at Thanksgiving Point. Basically I've just been hanging out with Ike who is getting cuter and cuter.
So I have no good excuse for being absent from the internet, but here's my attempt.

1 Day Left

Oprah.com is offering a free 20 page Snapfish.com book. I went to the link on Oprah's page but it might be as easy as going to www.snapfish.com/freebook2008 or try here.
I put together a book then got frustrated that I couldn't figure out how to apply the discount but then I read the side of the checkout screen where it says it will be applied at the 'check your order' screen, so I'm in the process and I think it will work. It took me about 3 hours to do so get to work girls, it's worth it for a free keepsake and or Christmas present.
You have until Friday at like 10pm to get the coupon and until Sunday to redeem it. Something like that. The site is going slow tonight but earlier today it was going really smoothly.

My New Quilt

My sister Debbie finished my quilt and I'm so excited about it. She emailed me about a year ago and said she was in the mood to quilt so I jumped on the offer and got some material and a pattern that I thought was cute and looked easy and sent it off to her. Well then she decided to go and have a baby so it got delayed a little but hey, better late than never. I can't wait to see it up close but she's in California so I have to wait. I think we are going to go for Thanksgiving so I can get it then and start cuddling in it right away.
Thanks Debbie, you Rock

Cornish Pasties

I got to hang out with my 'newest' BFF on Wednesday. She was kind enough to teach me how to make Cornish Pasties. The anglophile in me was all for it. I use to have a bit of a British obsession which Ryan doesn't condone so I had to hang my British flag in Ike's closet instead of above the TV in my room like it was when we were dating.
As you can see it was quite a production. It made it fun with the two of us working on it together and telling stories of past lives.
I tried and tried to get this picture turned the right way but oh well. The pasties are basically lots of yummy stuff wrapped in a pie crust. We used potatoes, turnip, rutabaga, steak, cheese, salt and pepper and a little dollop of butter on top.
You fold it up crimp the edges and poke holes in the top. Doesn't it look pretty.
The key is the sauce you put on it, and or dip it in when you eat it. It's a combination of Malt Vinegar, 'W' sauce and HP sauce (British yummy stuff).
She was nice enough to send me home with 4 of these goodies which I've had for dinner two nights this week. She also sent me home with some homemade raspberry jam that I can't stop eating. New friends are great. Now I need to come up with something for her to come over and make with me, hmm.
