It's not so bad

Ok, so I thought it was going to be alot worse. I met with a dietitian yesterday and found out what all I have to do in regards to having gestational diabetes. Guess what, I HAVE to eat carbs, woo hoo. Although that doesn't mean I get to eat all the cupcakes I want unfortunately. I have to write down everything I eat and check my blood sugar 4 times a day. Doesn't sound too bad right. Yeah well that's how I felt this morning.
At the moment I'm a little frustrated but I'll get over it. My blood sugar was still pretty high after lunch when I didn't even have any sugar, but I'm thinking it's because I took a nap right after eating. Also my fingers are starting to hurt from all this pin pricking I have to do. Then I tried to pick up a prescription for the test strips for the machine they gave me, turns out you can only get them through mail order and even then I'm not allowed to order them. So why the H*** did they give me that machine. I can get another machine for free covered by my insurance but I'm sure they will charge me for the first one still. I got a rogahm shot a week ago and sat in a room for 10 mins tops, on the couch mind you, and just got a bill for 77 buck for a 'room stay'. Seriously ridiculous. I've been listening to too much news about health care reform so every little thing irritates me now. So sorry for the rant. If I would have written this post this morning it would have had a much more upbeat tone.
Here's to tomorrow morning and lunch with Kellee Kellee!

No Fun

I got the call today and I have Gestational Diabetes. The thought of not having any sugar and limited carbs for the next 2 months is depressing, but it's only 2 months. I have to go meet with a specialist at the hospital soon to find out exactly what I need to be doing.
If anyone has some good idea's for things I can eat let me know. The nurse said it's basically like being on an Atkins diet. Fun for me!

Random

I haven't come up with anything worth blogging about lately so I thought I would take an idea from Hannah and just do a 'Random' post. So here goes.
1. Ike is turning 2 in less than a month and I can't believe it. Everyone says they grow up so fast but wow. He's definitely having his 2 year old moments already, but most of the time he's still my little sweet guy.
2. I've been painting Ike's room finally. Ryan has never liked the color I first painted it. I tried to go the environmental paint route which worked great for the top coat I got at Kwal paint but the primer was so runny I couldn't use it and just used stinky old kilnz. Oh well I tried.
3. I bought a pass to Thanksgiving point 2 weeks ago and I've already used it's value. I went today to the Animal farm. Ike loves riding the horse and I loved seeing the baby goats. One of the cows had a name tag on named Millie so Ike kept saying bye millie. Now he'll probably think all cows are named millie, which is a good name for a cow.
4. I got a call from my doctor on Wed. about my glucose test being high so now I have to go take a 3 hour test at the hospital. I have to fast before and then get my blood drawn 4 times. I just hope I don't pass out. I'm crossing my fingers I don't have gestational diabetes, but I guess it would be good for me to start watching what I eat.
5. I'm starting to rethink this whole having another baby thing. I don't know how I'm going to do it without going insane. 67 days and counting.
6. I'm not ready for the Fall tv to be over. I guess there really aren't that many network shows that I watch but the ones I do watch I like having a new one every week. Let me know if there are any new shows coming on this summer I should watch.
7. I'm so irritated with my iPod I could scream. Ryan got it for me for Christmas and it's already broken. It won't upload any music. He got it from Walmart, which I have a theory that somehow Walmart buys seconds, even of the name brand stuff. I hate Walmart but yet I shop there all the time because it's right down the street and it's alot cheaper, but I hate myself for it. I'm still a Target girl through and through.
That's probably enough random rant for one post. If you're like me when I see a long post with no pictures my eyes just glaze over so if you read this whole thing thanks. I'll work on taking more pictures of my wonderful exciting life and post them for you really soon.

3 Years down and 100+ to go

It's Ryan and my 3 year anniversary today. In some ways I can't believe it's been 3 years already, but it also seems like we've been together a lot longer than that. Who knew by the 3 year mark I would have a 2 year old and another coming soon. It's been a wonderful three years I wouldn't trade them for anything. Ryan is the love of my life and I can't imagine my life without him.

So raise your glasses with me and here's to another 100+ years together.

I want...

This Crib they have at Target. It's the least expensive convertible crib I've found that is also good looking. Does anyone really convert them after they are done being cribs? We still have the crib Ike used but it's not in the best shape although it's usable. Ryan decided he wanted to get the boys matching crib and bed so I've been on the hunt. I need to find a twin bed for Ike soon because I'm in and out of his bed several times a night and his mattress is just on the floor now which is getting harder to get up off of. So far I think the least expensive twin beds I've found are at Knights Furniture. If anyone knows any secret furniture stores I need to check out let me know.
I also want This stroller that Jemma and I saw at the Tulip Festival yesterday. I even told the mom pushing it around that we had stroller envy. Here's the thing though, do you think I need a double stroller. Ike and new baby will be 2 years apart. How long do kids stay in strollers, I guess to some extent till they are 4. I just hate the thought of maneuvering a double stroller around, but that's why I like this one cause the front wheel is tucked in and it didn't seem that wide. My other reasoning for wanting it is because I'm going to have to exercise after the baby and I won't be able to take the boys on walks without a double.
Oh and feel free to send donations to me C/O "Get Marj what she wants fund".

I found it

When I was writing the post about my haircut I remembered the fun music website that I use to listen to all the time. Driving around today the name magically came to me. Luxuria Music http://www.luxuriamusic.com/ now this is not for everyone. It's kind of music you would hear on a 60's French movie soundtrack. But it makes for great cheery background music while you are working on the computer. So if it sounds like your cup of tea go check it out. It even plays through iTunes.
Don't you love it when your brain actually works for you.

Quick Report

I know I've been back from St. George for a week now but I'm slow to blog. We had a fun relaxing time there. I went with Ike and my friend Kellee who Ike called 'Ha ha'. Not really sure how he got that out of Kellee but he has his own names for everything. Sadly my friend Jemma couldn't make it but we did go to her favorite place in St. George called Twenty Five Main. They have yummy panini's and salads but most important are their cupcakes which are only a dollar after 7 so I renamed them 'buckakes'. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and went swimming each day. We hit some fun shops and restaurants, thanks for the suggestions.
On the way back I talked Kellee into stopping at Ryan's Grandpa's "Cabin" that he built. It's outside of Scipio and it's quite the site to see. It's been in decline for several years now but Kellee was still impressed as am I everytime I see it.
*Jimmy if you read this I got some wood from there so you can hit up Uncle Dennis to make something for you or grab a piece next time you are around.
**Any relatives that want some pictures emailed to them let me know I have some good ones I took a few years ago.

I looked out the window...

at about 7:30 this morning and found this. Lots and lots of snow. Us and our neighbors actually had branches break from the weight. Sadly most of the branches around town that broke were the ones with pretty blossoms on them.
I just kept thinking to myself, tomorrow I'll be laying out by the pool in St. George eating an In-n-Out burger and fries. Can't wait.

Sun Times

I'm working on getting away this weekend for a little sun therapy. My friend Kelle and I (and fingers crossed Jemma) are going to run down to St. George for a little getaway. I know there are some good restaurants and stores and boutiques down there but I'm not that familiar with the area so I need some help. If you know of places us girls would like to visit let me know so I can take full advantage of my possible last vacation before the baby comes.

Must See

This is my new favorite video for so many reasons. Let me just throw out a few spoilers. Asian Gangs, biggest pompador ever, line dancing, leap frog, rock-a-billy, faux leopard coat, ok that should be enough. Just watch it.

What's in a name

We haven't come up with a good name for the baby yet and it's starting to drive me crazy. With Ike the name came really easy, It's short, cute, German-ish, and not many people use it. This time though nothing has clicked. Here's partly why.
All the short cool names have been used by close friends or family. Max, Jack, Luke, and Owen.
The other names I like are taken by dogs. Oskar (our dog) Duke and Rex.
I like weird names that Ryan would never agree too. Harold, Frank and Reginald (Regi).
We want something short, cool and not that common but those names are hard to come by now.
My top choice is Ian Charles Weidauer but Ryan thinks Ian is a bit of a fancy lad name, no offense to any Ian's out there, I like the name.
Ryan's top pick is Jack Roosevelt Weidauer or Jack Robinson Weidauer after Jackie Robinson. I told him we should name him Jack Elvis Robinson Weidauer and he could go by Jack E. Robinson Weidauer and then when people ask him what the E stands for he can tell them Elvis.
I'm not sold on the name Jack though, it's cute but it's everywhere and there are a lot of Jack pop culture references that could haunt him.
See my dilemma. So somebody needs to help and come up with the perfect name. And to help you out here's a reminder of how cute Ike was as a new born.

We're hoping little mystery man will be just as cute if not cuter than Ike was.

Getting Back to Normal

I had an entire night of uninterrupted sleep (only one trip to the bathroom at 4am) sleeping in my own bed with my husband and not my baby. Why is this so special, because for the last week I've been dealing with little sicko.

No they aren't chicken pox thank goodness. I took him to the doctor yesterday and he was undecided between allergies to strawberries or a viral infection. Either way he told me to give him some benadryl and hope they don't get worse. They seem to have cleared up quite a bit thank goodness with the added bonus of benadryl helping him sleep.

Friday night he started running a fever but Saturday he was acting ok with a little runny nose and cough. Saturday night on he slept with me in bed and Ryan was nice enough to sleep in Ike's uncomfortable bed. Sunday was the worse (Warning TMI to follow). He was pretty miserable all day, I gave him a bath and he took a big ol' dump in the tub, yuck. Then later in the evening he got upset so I picked him up and he puked all over me. I'm not talking the normal baby spit up, he's advanced to the full blown spew. It soaked me from head to toe literally. Ryan was freaking out, he's asked how I could just hold him and let him puke on me, but what was I suppose to do. Then Sunday night we started to notice a rash start on his leg. Thinking it was just a fever rash we didn't worry to much about it until Tuesday night giving him a bath it was looking pretty bad so we called Ryan's mom to come look at it and she said we better bring him in.

Today it's finally clearing up and he's not as snotty and not coughing as much but he still has a cute little raspy voice. Having a sick kid is the worst thing ever. I don't know what I'm going to do with 2 sick kids, cause I'm guessing if one gets it the other will too. I need spring to get here now so we can all quit being sick, I've had enough already.

Found One

I got this one at Forever 21 for 22.00 bucks. It's a little brighter/busier than I wanted but it's comfy and cute. They had solid color ones at Wet Seal for $17 and Target for $20 that I might pick up later. Thanks for all the recommends and suggestions, and yes it does look kind of cute with the baby bump.

I'm on the hunt

I've been to Target, Old Navy, Nordstroms, The Gap, Banana, Forever 21 all the teeny bop stores in between, TJ Maxx and Ross, and nobody has any cute Sun dresses, or what I guess they are called now, 'the Maxi Dress', although anything with the word Maxi in it instantly gets the word Pad put after it in my head.
Has anyone seen one?
They don't have to be white, I just want something casual but that doesn't look like a hippy. I'm not really sure why the hippy look is in right now but I can do without it. According to one blog 'The Maxi Dress is all the rage this summer' ok so maybe that was last year, but still, wouldn't you think stores would carry them. Yeah I know Old Navy does have some but they aren't super cute and I have a hard time paying full price there because the quality is so cheap, but I might break down and get one from there anyways if I can't find them anywhere else.
Help a pregnant lady out, all I want to wear this summer are these dresses and no shoes, bring on the cliche!

The Haircut

I've been meaning to post about 'The Haircut' I got for my birthday. I'm still loving it. It's so much nicer to have short hair, especially when you have the amount of hair that I do. After I get it cut like this it looks like there is a small dog sleeping (or dead) on the floor. I should have saved some of it for another 'hair pillow' for Ike but I think one is enough for now.
I got my hair cut at Studio Enizio They are in Lehi off the Alpine Hwy and the cut was only $25. They have a full range of services that cost a bit more, but if you just want the cut I think it's a great price. The girl who cut my hair is named Kelly Clark if you are interested in requesting the same girl. She only works 3 days a week, but I called on Saturday at 1pm and was in by 2pm. I keep telling people too that they have you take your shirt off and put on a robe so you don't get hair on you, High Class! They have a blog too that has some fun music on that I'm listening to right now, it reminds me of an internet radio station I use to listen to years ago I was just thinking about the other day but I can't remember what it was called.
Let me know if anyone goes and checks out the Salon. Oh and feel free to tell me how fabulous I look since Ryan has yet to tell me he likes it.

St. Patty's book club

We had a fun book club last night. It was my turn to pick the book up for discussion and I chose Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates. From the cover you can probably guess why I chose it, yes I have a 50's obsession. The book made for a great discussion. I think we actually spent a solid 2 hours discussing it which rarely ever happens, and come to think of it Twilight or Harry Potter weren't mentioned once.
We all got in the spirit of the day and nearly everyone was wearing green. We also had a wide variety of delish green food. I made cucumber sandwiches to go with the 50's theme as well as St. Patty's. Everyone raved about Robins Green Curry which she is now required to post a recipe for. We always have the best food and this time was no exception.

Happy Birthday to Me!

So far so fun! Ryan took me out for dinner Friday night to a nice Japanese restaurant, Ryan is still talking about the chocolate mouse desert. Saturday Ryan was nice enough to let me escape the house kid free a couple of times, once to do some birthday shopping and then to get my HAIRCUT! woo hoo, (picture to come) at Studio Enizio It's a bit shorter than Ryan would like but I love it. Ike is also isn't too happy about it but that was the point, he needs to lose his hair obsession.
Today Ryan (sort of) let me sleep in. Then I'm going to lunch with my 4 favorite girlfriends. Tonight we are having a family dinner where I get to share the celebration with my sis-in-law Emily whose birthday was on the 11th. Happy Birthday Emily!, and Happy Birthday Me!

Birthday Wish List

My birthday is coming up on Sunday! I think this has been the most low key birthday I've had, but that's probably because it's the first birthday I haven't been working or in school so I don't have lots of people to remind about the big event. Also the older you get the less exciting the prospect of adding another year to your stats sounds.
I've also had a hard time coming up with things that I want for my birthday. I'm pretty content and don't really need anything, but of coarse there are still a few things I want.
#1 I want my (I mean Ryan's) laptop fixed. That way I wouldn't be such a no show in the blogging world as I have been lately. But I would like it fixed before the baby comes so I don't have to take the baby down to the cold stinky basement to check my email.
#2 I want season 2 of This American Life. It's out on DVD and I think you can only get it at borders.
#3 A Blackberry, only because Ryan can get 2 for 1 and he really needs a new phone.#4 A season pass to Thanksgiving point.
#5 Someone to watch Ike so I can go see Revolutionary Road before my bookclub on Tuesday, only problem is it's only playing at the Tower which is not my favorite place.
#6 Target and or iTunes gift cards are always welcome.
#7 anything from last years list cause I don't think I got anything from it.
#8 Last but not least what I want for my birthday is your love and support.
Thanks!

2 of Ryan's favorite pics of me

Sept. 1983
Ryan was going through some of my old pictures a few weeks ago and came upstairs and asked me if he could have these two. I asked him why and he said he wanted to frame them and take them to work. So I thought if he got such a kick out of them I'd share the joy.

(enscription on the back:"To lovely Miss Marjorie S. Escort Greg Bursett. Thank you for being a lovely lady in our Catillion for 1987-1988")
I was in 6th grade in this picture which is my only excuse for my afro and puffy sleaves. But my date Greg Bursett looks pretty daper in his baby blue suit, he was ahead of his time.

Ike Likes it

I promise my blog is not just becoming a restaurant review blog but I had a request for a review of Les Madeleines.
I talked my friend Jemma into joining me there for lunch last week. I have to say I was a little disappointed. I hate giving something a bad review but I had such high hopes for this place it let me down a little. It all tasted really good, my complaint is really that everything was miniaturized. Maybe that's how they do it in France but for the prices I expected a little bit more. I got the half sandwich half salad and the sandwich measured about 2inch x 1.5inch. They featured there Kouing Aman pastries on the Food network and I was anxious to try them but they were tiny and priced at $5 I just couldn't justify it. I did however get a carrot cookie sandwich which was to die for. Jemma ordered some Mac n Cheese for her boy that was actually my favorite thing there, plus Ike ate a ton of it, thanks Liam.
So basically my only complaint is price vs. size of portion. If there food was 'actual size' I would recommend it. But if you are in Utah county I'd say Flour Girls and Dough Boys is just as yummy and you get your moneys worth.

I'm in Love

With Pizzeria 712, and my husband.
Ryan's brother Matt and his cute girlfriend Maggie offered to babysit for us so we could go out to dinner, how nice is that. I'd been wanting to check out Pizzeria 712 since I saw it on Your Heart Out. I talked Ryan into taking me there for dinner and I'm glad I did. So yummy! In fact the pizza was so good we were both craving it for lunch today so I went back and got two more pizza's to go. They make them in a brick oven and use fresh mozzarella and fresh tomato sauce. It's really like no other pizza around, so go try it.
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day!

Drum Roll Please

I got an ultra sound yesterday. I'm only 17 weeks but they wanted to check the length of my cervix so I got to get an early one. I was hoping they would be able to see the baby.
Look at that cute little hand, I'm pretty sure there was 5 fingers although it doesn't look like it. I asked if I could find out the sex of the baby and...

It's a Boy!
and boy howdy is it a boy. I actually called it before the tech did. She said that she usually doesn't say definitively either way but that she was pretty darn certain this one was a boy.
I'm really excited. I actually wanted another boy. I thought having a girl would be fun, but another boy will be easier and funner for Ike I think, and Ryan. I think Ryan is excited too, he kept telling Ike last night that he was having a baby brother. It's kind of hard to tell from the profile pic but I thought this little guy looks a lot like Ike did. I definitely makes it more real getting to see the baby moving inside of me. I'm getting really excited now.

Just 1 baby please

I had a dream last night that I had Triplets! Ahh, no thanks. In my dream I gave birth to them at a bakery, I must have been hungry last night. Or maybe because I saw a show on the food network about Les Madelines bakery in Salt Lake that I need to go check out. I was a bit stressed at having 3 babies but decided I should give one away to a friend who has been trying to have a baby but couldn't. I don't know if that proves I'm a giving person or that I'm too lazy to deal with 3 babies. Because 2 I could handle but 3, I don't think I'd ever sleep.
I have an appointment today so I'll have to get the doctor to double check that there is only one heartbeat in there. I may have an ultra sound today but I don't think they will be able to tell what I'm having, but I can't wait to find out. Don't worry I'll let you all know when I do.
**Appointment went good, there was only one heartbeat and I didn't get an ultrasound.

Happy Groundhogs day!

He saw his shadow, so Phil says we have 6 more weeks of winter. Although apparently he is right only 37% of the time so really there is a better chance that spring will be early this year. What an odd little tradition this country came up with. I like Anne's family tradition the best. They get presents for groundhogs day which ends up being something that her mom had bought the family for Christmas and forgot about or else something her mom had been wanting to get, like a dining room set, and uses groundhogs day as a good excuse to get it. Hope you get something nice for groundhogs day Anne!
Next to Arbor day this is one of my favorite holidays, so I hope everyone has a...

ADELE is CUTE

Thank you Jemma for sending me the pics, I like this one better but I'll leave them both up.
(Jemma needs to email me the pics she took cause I look much cuter in them)I got to go to the ADELE concert with my good friend Jemma on Friday. It was a lot of fun just getting out of the house but it was a great concert as well. The Murray Theater was packed and you can see by the pic below that it took all kinds of folks there. Gramps only made it through the opening act, which kind of went on too long if you ask me.
ADELE opened with my favorite of hers 'Cold Shoulder'. I took a little video of it but it's probably more entertaining just to watch the actual video. She was so cute performing, she's got the cutest personality and she kept giving the audience coy little waves. Her voice was amazing live, she's got a lot of talent for a 20 year old. It was an awesome show but I think Jemma and I both decided we are more of the sit and relax and watch a concert type now, man I'm getting old. But I guess if Gramps is still coming out I can suck it up and stand for a few hours too.

P.S. She said she's coming again in May!
